Her eyes closed, her features stripped of all emotion.
She waited.
Not a massive fan of not seeing things, but orders were orders after all and she had to play the game didnt she?
When finally allowed to open her eyes again she did so and she drew in a quiet breath, before slowly stepping forward, oh, but it reminded her of home, the devastation here...it made her think of the Crystal forest.
She looked at the others with her, then she looked back towards the beings in the distance, she wanted to go over, she wanted to talk to them, she wanted to get this over with, but...no no.
No sense in rushing this, now was here?
She turned back towards the others, to see exactly what the game plan was.

Age did as he was told and waited through the airlock procedure, which was almost as intimidating as the mission ahead. While he was waiting, he soon realised he missed most of the mission briefing as his letter was vague in the event of interception.

He heard the beep and opened his eyes slowly, a took a small gasp. The Dark Zone, the contained farmland, as his compatriots at home called it, was eerily beautiful. He gazed at the dark shades of blue and violet, he saw the crystals and their accompanying ooze. It took him a moment before he saw one of his teammates standing ahead looking at the group.

He turned his head to try to see the rest of the group, and asked "what exactly are we here for, what's the mission objective?"

The mare would enter, closing her eyes, feeling the shiver of her suit, herself growing cold for a moment before shivering and shaking away the feeling, the light flashing through her eyelids. And when she opened her eyes... She was in awe.

She walked slowly down the stairs, absorbing it all dumbfounded. She had been through rquestria, beyond its borders, in lands unknown. She had never seen anything like this, and it amazed her. The crystalline death that spread everywhere, giving the normal eerieness of hundreds of chunks of dead plant life a mind boggling beauty that could have made her shudder.

She did not fear this place, but she was cautious of it. She did not know what effect it could have on her If it penetrated her suit, or the others for that matter. She settled herself against the chill ad she examined the world around her. She would leave the closer examination of the crystals and changed plant life to those who knew more than her. Giving them a thorough look over however. Do not touch that, she would say to herself with a small smirk. It was obvious, best to be conscious of it.

She noted the figures with gritted teeth. They were eery, just standing there. That's what made her uneasy. Because she wasn't sure they were really alive. A few suggestions of what could have happened entered her mind. A, aliens. B, the crew members had been infected and were now some sort of cannabals, or C, they I'd been turned into statues, perhaps plants, or the crystals had taken them over, freezing or killing them where the stood. None of those Seemed like good options. Unless the aliens were passive. The shining object, even from afar, she could swear she felt something from it.

She turned to Age Old. "It is a rescue mission. We go in and find out what happened to the explorers before us and try not to get killed. If we figure out how this was all caused along the way, that will be a bonus. I believe we are supposed to get samples if able. However that is all secondary to the rescue. The secondary objectives should not interfere, and all should be felt with with immense caution. Do you understand?" She wpuld end, asking Age with a calm voice. She needed to stay present. Calm. Assured. Then she would turn to the group. "I put forward that we examine the crash site and move towards the concerning figures in the distance, as they may be some of the explorers that we have been sent to find. However, if someone else has any suggestions to prepare or do something prior to this, or add to it, I'm all ears." She would end, watching the others. They could take a few moments to examine the crystals and such, and collect samples if it was safe to, but it was likely best to get straight to the crash and the figures. If they waited any longer, it may be too late to retrieve them. That is if they weren't already too late.

//hope the writing isn't too awkward, did it on mobile. Also, sorry it took so long xD//

Now that was curious... a shower coming back she could understand, but one as they went out... she wondered where the sense in that was. Perhaps they were washing something off that the strange magic would not react well to, though she was puzzled as to what. For now, it would be filed away unti later. As they entered, Moon pondered those formations, and did some rough calculations.

"We have the amount of crystals, and the derative of the amount is the rate of change... let's say they have a proportality of one. Time in seconds, measure the crystals in grams.... so the rate of change is in grams per day, and we start with one gram. So... 22,000 grams in 10 days, 22 kilograms. Mass of the planet is about 6 times 10 to the 27th grams, so t equals the natural log of 6 times 10 to the 27th about.... 63.9 days... if we can't stop that crystal growth, it could devour the planet in two months.... less than a week to cover the entire surface of the planet....let's hope that doesn't happen...."

Moon looked up at Crystal and nodded her head. "I'm willing to go look for survivors, but I don't expect we will find anything we can save. It's almost like this thing is transforming the land to suit its needs. We need those samples... and we need to do some observations on the rate of growth. Perhaps most importantly, we have to see if there's anything here these crystals will NOT grow on. That may well be the key to stopping them." And so Moon would follow along, but she would be keeping her eyes open for any place where the crystals were not growing, and see if she could discover why.

Age turned to Moon and listened, as she spoke his mind began trying to keep up with her as she began mental math more impressive than he's ever seen. Just when he was about to loose focus on her train of thought, she came to her conclusion. He took a second to make sure his head was still on straight and looked out at the field before them. He began his own train of thought and his eyes shifted up to the massive dome. "Is that calculation including the small possibility that this shield is containing all of this chaotic magic? as far as we know, the crystals grow at an exponential rate underground and slow at the surface. If that's the case, It may have exceeded the range of the barrier before it was set up, which means it could still be spreading at that immense rate now."

He looked at one crystal and trotted towards it, bent down, and began examining it. After a moment he looked back up to the figures in the distance. "LEts get a sample or two for each of us and see what their deal is." he pointed with his polearm to the eerie figures in the background.

Most of their assumptions and calculatons were on-point. The destruction and corruption in front of them was something that only a select few who enjoy the harsher kind of science-fiction novels could come up with -But this was as real as they were. Every step on the squishy cobbles below confirmed that, the constant, faint reverberation in the air reminded them of this reality, the constant noise of ooze flowing downhill reafirmed this. It would be hard to tell how deep this all seeped down, however. The initial crash was strong enough to cause a small earthquake, perhaps strong enough to punch a hole into the ground. One wouldn't know, until the Wanderer, the Comet, is seen. That would confirm, or deny, Age's suspicion and assumptions.

The crystalline structures and the respective emmissions of fluids sprouted from everywhere, though. There seemed to be no exception to the rule of where they grew on, as it seemed that whenever a small bit of the solidified goo latched onto a surface, it marked a spot for the crystals to form and grow, seeping nutrients from any source, mineral or biological. Perhaps it drew energy from the nitrogen in the air, perhaps it could synthetize more of itself from the strong, otherwordly magic that flows with the fluids, causing it to grow wildly in all directions, like a very aggressive wildfire. Indeed, it would be a bad idea to be in contact with that ooze for too long.

However, amongst the road, one could spot... Patches of a bright-yellow colour. Scrapped parts, ripped from a Hazardous materials suit, squished and torn between the cobbles. Crystals were attempting to grow on it, but at a drastically slower pace than everywhere else. The sprouts around them made the little chunks growing on the protective fabric look like peebles. A good indication, the rate was dampened on that kind of material... For how expensive every square metre of that fabric is.

However, that torn fabric wasn't the only thing dotting the road uphill. Going towards the figures, one could see signs of battle; Particuliarly scorched patches of already dead grass. Dents in the stone walls, even seemingly random formations of crystals in a splatter-like pattern in the ground... Like if somepony lost a leg besides the road. And all these signs led up to the three figures in the distance.

Figures that were equine in all meanings of the word. As their eyes adapted to the new light conditions, the group would be able to spot with ease drastic changes to their fisiology.

Two of them looked like Stallions, by height and shape of their muzzle. Muzzles that were wide open, with most of their teeth gone. Their shoulder seemed to have split up in half, in a 45º angle from the left shoulder down to the side of their chest. Their eyes were completely hollow, their whole body carbonized to the core. Every strand of hair was long gone, and numerous ripples through their exposed skin allowed the rescue party to see a hollow interior even from afar. One of them was missing a forehoof, standing upright somehow. They both wore relatively burnt leather jackets above their shoulders, chest and back, and one of them was holding a hoe, hinting that these poor souls were once peons for the farmstead, forever lost to the terrible effects of the Comet's crash.

The third figure, however, looked less... Horrid, so to speak, as it was a Scarecrow. More specifically, the upper-half of a fake, Straw-Pony, with a long jute jacket, patched in numerous places. From waist and below, one could see a sturdy stick nailed to the dead soil, from wich crystals creeper upwards and into the underside of the jacket. The scarecrow's head was completely substituted by a large protuberance, made entirely out of crystals, wich had aten the packed hay that once acted as a filler for the ponnequin. Its leather hat, however, still decorated its head, untouched (For now) by the spreading corruption.

None of them moved. At all. But the hoe between the hooves of one of the peons, had scraps of the same bright-yellow textile that made up the hazardous suits. Perhaps another thing to worry about, if the freezing temperatures, the lingering sensation of impending doom, and the oddly accurate calculations from the mare weren't enough.

Oh, and the morbid curiosity rising amongst some of the group members...

They were not horrific to the Necromancer, They were beautiful.
Such a thing that the magicks here could could do, such an amazingly powerful and twisted thing.
Oh, she found herself longing for home all the more now, she had listened to MoonDancer, she too had thought a few of those things, but her main goal in all of this, her main objective was to absorb as much information as she could about this place, about the energies here, the ka, the Ba, the chi and the rho, the spirit of this place, oh it tugged upon her, whispered to her, it spoke to her of so many things.

While they approached the others, or was it the others approaching them, who had time for such little details, she drew in those lovely visages, the hoe, and the scarecrow, she couldn't stop it, the smile that formed upon her features was both enraptured and in love.

She was going to, she decided, attempt to start a dialogue if anything, absently she wondered, could they speak with the mind? or were they able to communicate with the mouth,
Regardless, she gave them a soft almost knowing smile and she mused gently,
"Hello to you, dear friends to be, I hope you do not mind me asking, but...what is that lovely little weapon...oh I mean, tool there, made of exactly, It's too brilliant a hue to be gold." her tone was sweet, but there was this edge to it, much like a fine blade its self.

Age leaned back as the mares began walking past him, he opened his satchel and leaned his head slightly towards the crystal he was inspecting. He stopped himself and sighed, using magic was not encouraged, that was going to take getting used to. He took his polearm and began chipping away at the crystal to see just how break able it was and to hopefully learn much more.

As he was chipping, his eyes wandered to Lady. He realized he was not yet aware of any of his team mates talents as he slowed his chipping and turned his head to see her talking to the statues.

"What are you expecting is going to happen?" He asked curiously. He tried to see the crystal with the serrated edge of the blade, but found he was not as proficient with his hooves as he thought.

He turned his attention to sawing the gem as he listened for a response as well as any hint to danger in their surroundings. They had no idea what they were up against, and the only thing he disliked more than that was that they were out in the open.

As the walked down the path, Kross would bend down, inspecting the fabric.. now how was that torn off? This stuff shouldn’t just be ripped off by a branch or rock. It would have to be torn with something very sharp...
As they approached the strange, hollow but fractured figures, everything told her to run. Her instincts, her mind, everything. Something about it was wrong. She would not be deterred, but she knew something was certainly wrong here. The signs of battle... Were there other things around here? Blood on the road, scorch marks, and now as she drew near with the others, she could see the fabric on the blade of the thing. The scorch marks didn’t seem as though they were solely from the crash of the meteor. Some many signals...

The first thing that flashed through her mind was that... Pray that it wasn’t true, but that the things were alive. Zombified through the organic of the crystals. She had seen a fungal far south that would infect an insect, kill it, and then bring it back to life. It would have it climb high as to infect the other insects when the fungal grew from it and released it’s spores. Second theory was that someone had simply been clumsy, clipping themselves on it and had attempted to run back to the exit, pieces falling off during that process. Final theory was that there were other creatures here. Aliens if you would. She didn’t care for taking any chances, and knew she’d look absolutely ridiculous if she was wrong. But if she wasn’t, then it was best to have tried. She took a step back as she spoke.

“Trust me here for a moment... Step away from the crystallized folk. Step away.” She would say firmly, teeth grit. Her ears were perked within the suit as she drew her weapon. Her eyes were glued to them, however she took a cursory look around there surroundings for anyone approaching. If there was, she would have to trust her other senses to tell her now if there was something besides the crystallized creatures in front of her. “I might be wrong, but best be sure. Please.” She would speak again, almost holding her breath.

Moondancer looked at the scene in front of her, and if she had at all been in charge, her statement would have been simple. "We're leaving...."

Alas, she was not in charge. "Believe me, I am not even getting remotely close to that..." She said to Kross. "In fact, I strongly recommend that we get the hell out of here, and suggest that every power, every artifact, every destructive force we have be brought to bear on this anomaly. This place needs to be atomized, cauterized, and in sterilized. It should be be destroyed in every way it is possible to be destroyed, and even in some which are essentially impossible. This cannot be allowed to progress any further."

While the others performed their examinations, Moondancer started to check on her own magic. Starting with the simplest spells she knew, and progressing through to more complicated ones, Moondancer would try to assess if anything was disrupting or changing her own magic. Doing low power tests to cover the basics, and then working her way up to more complicated spells, even seeing if a short range teleport would work. Much of her future plans were dependent upon how well her own magic functioned.
