Misc Information:
My name is Sejanus Starsinger. I live in Canterlot and I've had seven heart attacks, all imagined. I was deeply unhappy but I didn't know it, because I was too busy being happy all the time. I have a favorite quote about Canterlot by The Bard: "This other Elysium... demi-paradise... this precious stone... set in the silver sea.... this earth, this realm... this Canterlot!" Anyway, this is what happened to me, and I swear, it's all true.....

Life is its own answer. Accept it and enjoy it day by day. Live as well as possible. Expect no more. Destroy nothing, humble nothing, look for fault in nothing. Leave unsullied and untouched all that is beautiful. Hold that which lives in all reverence. For life is given by the sovereign of our universe; given to be savored, to be luxuriated in, to be respected. But that’s no secret. You’re intelligent. You know as well as I what has to be done.
History and Details:

1789 AA (Anno Astrum): Born, approximately six years before any of the Element Bearers.

1804 AA: Before Princess Luna's return, Shank was member of a group of thestrals who continued to revere Nightmare Moon in spirit and custom, making him both grim, and somewhat wicked in his ways. While he never took up arms against the reign of Celestia, or ventured far from his people, he was a member of one of what would later be called "cults of Nightmare Moon". Like others of his kind, he hoped night eternal would blanket all of Equestria upon the return of their "Queen".

1813 AA: Shank's wish for Luna's return was granted, after a fashion. When Nightmare Moon escaped her imprisonment on the moon, he and the other followers of Nightmare moon headed directly for Canterlot to embrace the return of their Queen, only to arrive and find out that Luna had been "reformed". Accepting this with pragmatism, Shank and many of his fellow "loyalists" endeavored to accept this reformation if it meant a chance to serve their long-awaited princess. And so, Shank took his place among the Night Guard. Like his princess, he is mostly reformed, with his "wickedness" mostly translated into black humor, a rambunctious lust for adventure and fighting, and a somewhat scathing attitude.

1813 AA: Shank is present at the battle against "Nightmare Rarity", along with the residents of Ponyville.

1814 AA: Princess Luna, and the bulk of the Lunar Guard (Shank among them) are fooled into leaving Canterlot during Discord's return. A fool's errand, they miss the majority of the incident.

1814 AA: Shank is involved in the Battle of Canterlot, fighting against the changeling invasion. Like many guards, Shank puts up a good fight. The resulting participation of the Lunars is probably the first largely witnessed evidence that thestrals aren't all evil bats. Promoted to lieutenant as a result of meritorious action in combat.

1815 AA: Shank is stationed in Canterlot during the return of the Crystal Empire, and not directly involved. However, the departure of Shining Armor along with a number of Canterlot guard sent to bolster the Empire's forces causes many vacancies. Shank is promoted to the rank of captain.

1815 AA: The Dream Wardens are formed as a trial unit. Under the guidance of Princess Luna select military and civilian ponies are sent by her magic into the dreams of other ponies to assist them with their nightmares. Shank is among the first to participate.

1815 AA: Shank meets his mate-to-be, Alona. A friendship forms first, and then a courtship.

1815 AA: Guard reforms ensure that Canterlot is kept running and press blackouts hold when the Princesses disappear during the Everfree Crisis, while deferring to the next available command authority, Princess Sparkle, though they are highly ashamed they lost the princesses to a bunch of overgrown plants. Rumor has it the Solar Guard carry high-grade weedkiller in field packs now, supposedly just in case.

1816 AA: Shank and Alona begin a long engagement. 1816 AA: The Dream Wardens become more formalized and fully sanctioned.

1816 AA: Shank engages Tirek in direct battle. Shank is thrown through a wall and magic-drained. Not much comes of his actions.

1816 AA: The Tantabus Incident causes a temporary suspension of the Dream Wardens program while Princess Luna re-evaluates her use of dream magic. Eventually, the Wardens resume their duties.

Shank's List of Bullshit Accomplishments:

"I make a habit out of doing things that people say I can't do: Trot through fire, fly the Ghastly Gorge blindfolded, take up piano at a late age. You really think you're ready for the field? I once used the Elements of Harmony on myself. I put shards of glass in my buckin' eye. I've jumped from Canterlot Castle using only a raincoat as a parachute and broke two legs upon landing; I still had to pretend I was in a bucking Wonderbolts show! I've swallowed enough secret messages and pooped them back out again to make a book. My left forleg has been ripped off completely and re-attached with my right foreleg. During the threat of a changeling assassination attempt, I appeared convincingly in front of the council as Princess Celestia. I watched the mare I love get tossed from an airship and hit by another airship, mid-air. I drove a parade float off a roadway on top of a train while it was on fire. Not the float, I was on fire. Nothing kills me. I'm immune to 179 different types of poison. I know because I ingested them all at once when I was deep undercover in an underground poison-ingesting crime ring."
